About

Eva De Clercq received her doctoral degree (Critical study of Svayambhudeva's Paumacariu, advisor: Prof. Dr. Frank Van Den Bossche) in 2003 from Ghent University. After continuing her research in Ghent as a postdoctoral fellow (The 63 Mahapurusas of Jainism), she worked as a research associate on the AHRC Project "North Indian Literary Culture (1450-1650)" of Dr. Francesca Orsini at SOAS, London and as a postdoctoral fellow of the Humboldt Foundation at the University of Würzburg (Unjust battle: different critical voices on the Vali-vadha episode in the Jaina Ramayanas). She is presently lecturer of Indology at Ghent University. Her current research focus is on fifteenth century Jaina mercantile communities of North-India.
